Outstanding Contribution to Drama by a Beginning Teacher

Award outline
Each year Drama Victoria celebrates the achievement and contribution of an early career teacher. The teacher must be an excellent role model, and have completed outstanding work within their educational setting. The award is designed to acknowledge the achievements of a teacher who has demonstrated excellence, innovation and a significant contribution to their school and/or community.

The recipient is a person who:

  • has been teaching drama for up to and including five years
  • has been an excellent role model
  • has demonstrated outstanding and innovative work within their educational setting and/or community
  • has shown to be innovative and passionate about their job

Nomination process
Being nominated for this award is a great honour. This is your opportunity to recognise and reward someone who makes you proud to be in drama education.

The nominee may be nominated by a fellow colleague who considers them worthy of the award. An email must be sent to director@dramavictoria.vic.edu.au to inform Drama Victoria of specific nominees details.

We encourage you to submit supporting documentation with your nomination. All documentation submitted with a nomination will be retained by Drama Victoria.

The Drama Victoria committee of management members make up the selection panel. The committee will select an overall winner based on the nomination form, referee feedback and any supporting documentation. The winner will be notified prior to the Drama Victoria Conference by phone.

Award details
The recipient will receive a trophy during the Drama Victoria State Conference. They will also be profiled and published in Drama Victoria’s MASK and receive a contribution of $500 to their professional learning, or drama education project of choice, evidence of which will then be also published in Drama Victoria’s MASK publication.

Rob Galbraith
Rob’s passion for theatre was renowned in the drama education community. His leadership and contribution to drama education in Victoria and beyond was highly valued and appreciated by the Drama Victoria community. Teacher, author, consultant and role model, Rob worked tirelessly to develop and improve drama curriculum across all year levels. He was a true innovator and his commitment to inspiring young people to embrace drama is the foundation for this award.
