Specific Additional Health Controls for Essential Assessments for VCE and VCAL

Monday 17, Aug 2020

Many teachers have contacted Marg Arnond, VCAA, about the limited options for Dance, Drama, Theatre Studies and Music students preparing for performance examinations.

Some specific details have now been approved by the Government Health authorities, and this information has now been sent to Principals and Non-school Secondary Providers from the CEO of VCAA.

Specific Additional Health Controls for Essential Assessments for VCE and VCAL.

The advice is specifically for essential School-based SACs and SATs, but has now been extended to permit Essential assessment preparation  that can’t be undertaken at home where it is essential to access specialist equipment, e.g. sprung floors for dance, or for group performance rehearsal. These cannot be teaching times (as that is not permitted), but strictly rehearsal where only supervision is provided.

There are additional health and safety controls attached to these activities, which must be addressed if these activities are to take place.

The information is now on the VCAA website: https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/news-and-events/latest-news/Novel%20coronavirus%20update/Pages/SpecificControlsforEssentialAssessmentsforVCEandVCAL.aspx
