Primary Performing Arts Mini-conference Brings Creative Learning to Centre Stage
Get ready to spark imagination, deepen your practice, and connect with colleagues across the state!
The Primary Performing Arts Mini-conference is coming to DE Performing Arts Unit, Collingwood, on Wednesday 3 June 2026 - a full day of rich professional learning designed specifically for Primary School teachers from Prep to Year 6, in both specialist and generalist roles.
Hosted in partnership by ASME Victoria, Ausdance VIC and Drama Victoria, this dynamic mini conference offers four immersive workshops led by some of Victoria’s most respected arts education leaders.
This event is proudly supported by the Victorian Department of Education, enabling government school teachers to access high-quality professional learning that strengthens Performing Arts education across the state.

Four unique workshops, including:
The Mini-conference features four dynamic workshops across Drama, Dance, Music, and interdisciplinary Performing Arts. In Drama, Kelly McConville and Katherine Zachest guide participants through imaginative, play-based approaches, including improvisation and storytelling to build confidence, empathy, and creative thinking. The Dance workshop, led by Jordan Pollard and Dr Katrina Rank, explores GAME PLAY—using movement, character creation, and choreographic tasks inspired by virtual worlds. In Music, Alisa Porteous and Sue Arney introduce practical strategies for teaching songs, composition, listening, and body percussion. Finally, all partner organisations lead an interdisciplinary session connecting the artforms through a unified, classroom-ready unit of work.
